Openair Frauenfeld
NUSSLI has been supporting the Frauenfeld Openair with temporary event structures for decades, contributing to the success of one of Europe's best-known music festivals. What began as a rock festival in 1985 has developed into the largest hip-hop festival in Europe and attracts tens of thousands of music fans to Frauenfeld every year. For the complex infrastructure behind the scenes, NUSSLI realizes stages, spectator and VIP areas as well as numerous other temporary constructions that characterize the festival experience.
Temporary infrastructure for a festival of superlatives
Openair Frauenfeld is one of the largest and best-known music festivals in Europe. To ensure that artists, visitors, media and organizers find optimal conditions, NUSSLI realizes a large number of temporary event structures on the festival site every year. From stage constructions and spectator areas to technical platforms, customized solutions are created that combine functionality, safety and visitor comfort. The long-standing collaboration enables efficient processes and precise implementation within tight deadlines.
The Skyline Stage as a spectacular festival highlight
in 2015, Openair Frauenfeld set new standards in festival construction with the Skyline Stage realized by NUSSLI. The approximately 135-metre-long and up to 24-metre-high construction was reminiscent of the New York Bronx skyline and became a striking landmark of the festival. A special feature of the structure were the two integrated stages, which allowed for continuous concert operations without lengthy breaks. The construction was also accessible to visitors, creating a unique festival experience with impressive views of the site.
More than just a stage
In addition to the stages, NUSSLI realizes numerous other infrastructure elements for the Openair Frauenfeld. These include VIP areas, pedestrian bridges, video platforms and other temporary structures that ensure the festival runs smoothly. The various structures create safe visitor routes, optimum visibility and exclusive areas for visitors to spend time in. The combination of different modular systems creates a flexible festival infrastructure that can be adapted to new requirements every year.
Decades of partnership
NUSSLI has been a reliable partner of Openair Frauenfeld since the festival began. Every year, the assembly team spends around a month setting up the various structures before the entire infrastructure is dismantled again within a few days. Many years of experience with major annual events enables efficient processes and precise coordination of all trades.
A comparable project is the Openair St. Gallen where NUSSLI also realized temporary event infrastructure for one of the most traditional music festivals in Switzerland.
